Sean Mason, CCIM (Director at CRER) has earned the prestigious Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation, awarded by the CCIM Institute – one of the leading commercial real estate associations in the world. The designation was officially conferred during the institute’s recent business meetings in Miami, Florida, marking a significant achievement in Sean’s commercial real estate career.
Sean was among a select group of professionals who earned the CCIM designation by passing the rigorous CCIM Comprehensive Examination, the final component of the designation process. He is now the fifth CRER broker to attain this coveted title, joining an elite network of around 9,000 CCIM designees across more than 1,000 markets worldwide. With fewer than ten percent of commercial real estate practitioners holding the CCIM pin, designees are widely regarded as go-to experts in their markets. Industry research shows that CCIM designees significantly outperform their peers across key performance metrics, including compensation.
The CCIM designation is recognized as one of the highest professional distinctions in commercial real estate. It is achieved through a rigorous program that includes graduate-level coursework and a portfolio of qualifying experience. The curriculum covers essential industry topics such as financial analysis, market analysis, user decision analysis, and investment analysis – the cornerstones of commercial real estate investment. Candidates must complete over 200 hours of specialized training and document extensive real-world transaction experience before sitting for the comprehensive exam. By mastering this curriculum and demonstrating their expertise, CCIM designees develop a skill set that is respected across brokerage, leasing, asset management, valuation, and other disciplines of commercial real estate. The CCIM Institute, based in Chicago, has been conferring this designation since 1969 through its robust educational program and experiential requirements. An affiliate of the National Association of REALTORS®, the CCIM Institute provides a recognized curriculum, powerful technology tools, and networking programs that continue to influence the commercial real estate industry.
In his six years with CRER, Sean Mason has primarily focused on multifamily and industrial investment sales, as well as ground-up development projects. He also oversees the leasing of a one-million-square-foot industrial portfolio in the Chicago area, and is known for providing honest, straightforward guidance to clients through all aspects of property ownership and management. Before joining CRER, Sean spent 15 years in the capital markets sector, where he developed deep expertise in financial analysis and risk management – knowledge he now leverages to help investors expand and diversify their real estate portfolios. A Chicago native, Sean’s extensive local market insight further enhances his ability to identify strategic opportunities for his clients.
